Bogdan Vrusias is Head of AI & Data Engineering at The Economist Group, where he leads a multidisciplinary team building next-generation Generative and Agentic AI platforms, translating cutting-edge research into measurable business impact at scale. A serial entrepreneur and founder of several AI-driven companies, he brings over 30 years of experience spanning cloud-native architecture, machine learning, NLP, and large-scale data engineering. He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Surrey, teaching Natural Language Processing, and holds a BSc (Honours), MBA, and PhD from Surrey, where his doctoral research pioneered methods for transforming text into visual representations, an early forerunner to modern Generative AI.
