Carol Yan

Carol Yan is a senior energy and technology leader at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where she leads AWS’s engagement with some of the largest and most complex energy and utility companies across the UK, Ireland and Europe. With a background spanning energy transition, digital transformation, and large-scale infrastructure modernisation, Carol sits at the intersection of AI, cloud, and the physical systems that power economies — grids, networks, water systems, and energy markets. She works closely with CEOs, CIOs, CTOs, regulators and policymakers to help the industry tackle some of its hardest challenges. Carol is a frequent speaker on what she calls the “Energy–AI Paradox” — the idea that AI will be one of the largest new loads on energy systems, but also one of the most powerful tools to fix them — from grid planning and outage prediction to market optimisation and customer operations.
