Chun-Wa Chung

Chun-wa Chung is Executive Director and Head of Structural and Biophysical Sciences at GSK, where she leads a global, multi-disciplinary team based in Stevenage and Philadelphia. With more than 25 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, she brings molecular insight to drug discovery across small molecules, oligonucleotides, biopharmaceuticals and vaccines, using advanced crystallography, electron microscopy and biophysical approaches. She has played a key role in bringing a broad range of biophysical methods into industrial drug discovery at GSK and is currently on the Biophysical Society Industry Task Force, giving her a broad perspective on developments in biophysics and emerging trends across industry. She holds a BA and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge, contributes to a range of external scientific advisory and funding bodies, and was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences in 2022.
