Dr Sonya Hessey

Dr Sonya Hessey is a Clinical Lecturer, meaning she sees cancer patients at UCL (University College London) Hospitals and is a scientist at the UCL Cancer Institute. Her research uses results from the PEACE study to understand how cancer spreads from one part of the body to another. Her aim is to stop this process, since cancer is easier to treat before it spreads. Dr Hessey’s PhD (completed in 2024) was funded by Cancer Research UK via the charity’s Clinical Research Training Fellowship programme.
