Gary Whitney

Gary Whitney, Managing Director of Smartlawns Ltd specialising in robotic solutions for large area mowing and line marking. Over 40 years of experience across all aspects of OPE sales and maintenance. Gary’s career in this industry started in the workshop of a garden machinery dealership in the West Midlands, after promotion to workshop manager, he moved to sales before leaving to pursue a commercial products sales career with Victa and Hayter. Gary then pivoted to working for a recently formed and fast-growing grounds maintenance contractor called Brophy PLC where he became responsible for procurement and fleet management of the UK’s largest fleet of grounds maintenance equipment. Gary then pivoted back to commercial sales with Textron and started his own hard landscaping business which he was lucky enough to continue running after joining Stiga in 2002 as an area rep. Gary enjoyed 25 years with Stiga first promoted to National Sales Manager in 2014 and then Managing Director in 2018.
