Gilles Decan
Program Manager H2 & CO2, Port of Antwerp-Bruges
Gilles Decan is Program Manager H2 & CO2 at Port of Antwerp-Bruges and has worked his entire career in the synthetic renewable fuels sector. Before joining the Sustainable Transition team at the Port Authority, he focused on the implementation and optimisation of e-fuels in maritime engines as a doctoral and post-doctoral fellow. By switching to the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, he remained active on hydrogen & CCUS related matters, but shifted from a research-oriented approach to a more industrial point of view. Currently, from a port authority perspective, he is in charge of the hydrogen and CCUS strategy of the port and the positioning of Port of Antwerp-Bruges as a hub in those domains. He helps realising the transition in the port ecosystem by focusing on market developments and incentivisation, hydrogen import, carbon capture projects, infrastructure developments and regulatory aspects.
