Helgi Eysteinsson

Helgi Eysteinsson is the CEO of Iceland Travel, a role he has held since October 2023. He leads the strategy for both Iceland Travel and its luxury division, Nine Worlds, with a focus on crafting locally led experiences that connect travellers to the culture and communities of Iceland. Tourism has been a big part of Helgi's life for a long time. He started out as a tour guide in 1996 and has since worked in sales, marketing, management and consulting. He served as Managing Director of Iceland Travel from June 2008 to April 2013, then returned to the company in April 2023 as Director of Business Development, before stepping into his current role. Helgi is 50 years old, born and raised in Reykjavik, and he also spent a few years living in a small town in America. He lives in the greater Reykjavik area with his wife and their three children. When time allows, he enjoys golf, cycling, current affairs and cooking.
