Juan Carlos García-Pagán

Joan Carles García-Pagán, MD, PhD, is Head of the Hepatic Hemodynamics Section at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and senior investigator at IDIBAPS and CIBERehd. He is also Professor of Medicine at the University of Barcelona where he has supervised 25 doctoral theses, with several more currently under his supervision. A leading authority in portal hypertension and vascular liver diseases, his research focuses on the pathophysiology and treatment of portal hypertension, hepatic vascular disorders, endothelial dysfunction, thrombosis, and translational hepatology. Over the past three decades, he has led pioneering multidisciplinary research programs that have contributed to major advances in the understanding and management of these conditions. He was cofounder of the VALDIG group and currently coordinates several international collaborations and multicentre studies, including the European EUROTIPS consortium.
