Julius Grimmenstein

Julius Eik Grimmenstein leads FlexCycle Solutions, a spin-off project at TU Bergakademie Freiberg that is preparing to launch a company for sustainable metal powders. He studied at Chemnitz University of Technology, earning a B.Sc. in Automotive Production and Engineering with a focus on materials and technologies, and an M.Sc. in Lightweight Engineering specialising in lightweight and hybrid technologies. He gained hands-on experience as a design engineer and at the university’s chairs of welding technology and of surface and coating technology. Since 2022, he worked as a research associate at TU Bergakademie Freiberg on the recycling of lightweight materials. He is pursuing his doctorate on the recycling of metallic foams. Since 2025, he and his team have been preparing the spin-off, applying his expertise in materials and recycling to turn industrial residues into high-performance metal powders.
