Karl Fice-Thomson

Karl Fice-Thomson, known to many children and families as Mr F-T, is a Cornish outdoor educator, author and founder of Big F-T’s Shack. His work brings together coastal education, home education, school partnerships and early years consultancy, exploring how curiosity, relationships and meaningful experiences shape the way children learn. Through his Community Classroom approach, Karl encourages educators to recognise the extraordinary educational possibilities already present within their own communities. Whether surrounded by city streets, moorland, streams, valleys, woodlands or coastlines, he believes the environments children encounter every day are filled with opportunities for scientific investigation, language, history, geography and discovery, often hiding in plain sight.
