Lovely Paul Solomon Devakumar

Senior Scientist, Functional Genomics Centre

Lovely Paul Solomon Devakumar is a senior scientist at the Functional Genomics Centre, a collaboration between AstraZeneca and Cancer Research Horizons in Cambridge, UK. She holds a PhD from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, on understanding DNA repair mechanisms using functional genomics. She did her postdoc at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Centre for Protein Research in Copenhagen and later continued her postdoctoral training at the Institute of Cancer Research in London, where she used a combinatorial CRISPR screen approach to find potential drug targets in breast cancer models. In her talk, she will highlight how the Functional Genomics Centre applies CRISPR screens in a wider context to identify novel drug targets in oncology.
