Melita Irving
Group Leader, University of Lausanne
Dr. Melita Irving is a Group Leader at the University of Lausanne and Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in Lausanne, Switzerland, where she leads a research program focused on developing next-generation engineered T-cell therapies for cancer. Her laboratory combines innovative CAR and TCR design with cytokine armoring, synthetic receptor engineering and advanced vector technologies to improve the efficacy, persistence and safety of cellular therapies, particularly in solid tumors. Her work spans fundamental T-cell biology through preclinical and translational development, with a strong emphasis on overcoming the barriers imposed by the solid tumor microenvironment and developing technologies that can facilitate clinical translation. Her group has also pioneered pharmacologically controllable CAR T-cell platforms, including STOP-CAR, iONO-CAR, and DROP-CAR technologies. She works closely with clinical, academic and biotechnology partners to advance new engineered T-cell strategies to
