Nathan Mayne
Astrophycisist and researcher
Nathan Mayne is a Professor of Astrophysics and Planetary Climates in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Exeter and a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow. His research explores Earth’s past climate, planetary and exoplanet climates, and life–climate interactions. He supports space missions through climate and weather modelling for Mars and Venus, studies gas giant formation using observations such as JWST, and develops research computing infrastructure, with growing interest in AI and machine learning for climate prediction. Q1: Why are you excited to be part of New Scientist Live this year? I am always excited to get out and speak to people about what I am passionate about! It reminds me just how awesome it is that I get to study planets far away from Earth, searching for signs of life, and reminds me how much we still have to learn. The questions and perspectives of the audience are always a real highlight for me. Q2: What’s the one thing you want people to take away
