Paul Leeson

Paul Leeson is a medicinal chemistry consultant with >45 years of experience in drug discovery, including at major pharmaceutical companies Merck Sharp and Dohme, AstraZeneca, and GlaxoSmithKline. At AstraZeneca (1997−2011), he was the head of medicinal chemistry at the Charnwood site and held accountability for global chemistry strategy. Since 2014, he has advised pharmaceutical companies, start-ups, and academia. His drug discovery contributions have been in the cardiovascular, neuroscience, respiratory, and inflammation areas and in analyses of compound quality. He received the Nauta Award for Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology in 2014 from the EFMC. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge and is Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham.
