Philip Thompson

Phil has spent 18 years exploring the Atlantic Margins, from identifying new venture opportunities through to technical venture management. A deepwater sedimentologist by background, he enjoys connecting the dots across biostratigraphy, sedimentology, stratigraphy, geochemistry, geodynamics and crustal structure to develop integrated perspectives on petroleum systems and exploration opportunities. Currently working offshore Uruguay and Brazil, Phil is particularly interested in how a better understanding of basin evolution and geological processes can challenge established thinking and open up new exploration plays. Phil holds a PhD from the University of Aberdeen and an MSc in Exploration Geophysics from the University of Leeds.
