Rachel Brackenridge
University of Aberdeen
Dr Rachel Brackenridge is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Geosciences at the University of Aberdeen, where she is Programme Director for the MSc Integrated Petroleum Geoscience. Building on experience in the petroleum industry, her research explores how the subsurface can support the energy transition, particularly through energy storage and carbon sequestration. She has a particular interest in the potential of salt solution mines for energy storage, including hydrogen, and in the role of salt as sealing facies for carbon storage. Through her work, Rachel brings together practical industry experience and subsurface knowledge to explore ways of making future energy systems more sustainable and secure.
