Ronald Leung

Ronald Leung is the founder and Group CEO of Esperanza. Ronald is responsible for the Group's governance and legal matters, with a focus on developing licensed and regulated products in Hong Kong and other jurisdictions. Under his leadership, Esperanza has secured registration with Hong Kong Customs for a digitalised gold-backed instrument (known as tokenised gold), and permission from the SFC to conduct fund tokenisation issuance with secondary trading. Ronald began his career as an auditor at Ernst & Young. He then practised as a legal professional at King & Wood Mallesons and Mayer Brown, focusing on commercial and securities law, and later worked in the investment banking arm of BNP Paribas on corporate finance. Before founding Esperanza, Ronald created the first tokenised fund permitted by the SFC in 2023, while serving in senior management at a licensed virtual asset exchange in Hong Kong.
