Sonny Keywood

Sonny first started in the industry as a self-employed gardening and fine turf groundsperson after completing his Levels 2 and 3 in Horticulture & Fine Turf at Plumpton College. This gave him the practical knowledge and experience to take his next career move to Brighton and Hove Albion FC at the age of 19. His role focuses on maintaining and renovating natural grass, hybrid-stitched and artificial playing surfaces for both men's and women's first teams as well as both boys' and girls' academies. With ever growing demands, Sonny and the team are always improving their skillsets and this means no two days are ever the same. After noticing a lack of exposure and appreciation of the grounds industry, especially among the younger generation, Sonny joined GMA’s NextGen to help provide exposure and inspire the next generation of grounds management professionals.
