Marla Hansen

Marla Hansen is Head of Music at Platanus Schule in Berlin, where she teaches in the primary and secondary school and coordinates the music department. Alongside teaching, she works as a singer-songwriter and producer with a focus on electronic production, a practice that directly shapes how she designs classroom projects around real creative workflows. In recent years she has been integrating AI into music education, across lesson planning, assessment design, skill building, and creative project work. She has advised her school on its AI policy, tested AI education tools for AWS's PartyRock for Education team, and builds her own tools for the music classroom. Her interest is in how generative tools can support creativity, differentiation, and AI literacy — without displacing musicianship or critical thinking.
